What it does.

Eligible Chester-area farms, food businesses, nonprofits, cooperatives, and local governments should monitor IDOA for a future round. The program can support equipment and facilities that improve market access for Illinois agricultural products.

Best for: Small food and farm enterprises investing in processing, cold storage, shared kitchens, or distribution capacity.

Who and what may qualify.

Eligible applicants

  • Eligible Illinois farms, cooperatives, processors, food businesses, and food hubs with fewer than 50 employees
  • Illinois nonprofits and units of local government

Eligible uses

  • Purchasing, lease-to-own, rental, building, or installation of local-food processing, storage, aggregation, or distribution infrastructure

Uses excluded by the source

  • Land purchase
  • Costs already reimbursed by another state or federal grant

How to start.

  1. Monitor IDOA for the next notice of funding opportunity.
  2. Complete State of Illinois grantee pre-registration before applying.
  3. Use the new round's rules for eligibility, budget, match, and timing.
