What it covers

Rural Business Development Grants support economic development and job-creation projects led by eligible organizations. Uses can include business planning and technical assistance, training, rural business incubators, and other qualifying projects that benefit rural businesses.

This is not a direct grant program for an individual or a for-profit small business.

Eligibility

Applicants may be public bodies or government entities, federally recognized Tribes, or nonprofit entities that primarily serve rural areas. The project must benefit an eligible rural area under USDA rules.

Do not assume Randolph County eligibility. Check the project location with USDA’s eligibility tool and confirm the project and applicant type with the Illinois Rural Development office.
