What it does.

A Chester or regional project may fit when it materially improves freight, bridge, highway, port, or intermodal access. The scale and readiness expectations make regional and state partnership important.

Best for: A large Mississippi River, freight, bridge, or intermodal access project with regional significance.

  • States, qualifying local governments, public authorities, and other public entities listed by DOT

  • Private entities applying alone

  • Nationally or regionally significant highway, bridge, freight, rail crossing, port-access, and eligible multimodal projects

  • Small local projects without the required program significance or eligibility

Application

How to start.

  1. Confirm the project and sponsor meet INFRA eligibility.
  2. Coordinate with IDOT and regional partners.
  3. Submit under the applicable MPDG track.

Timing: DOT lists a July 1, 2026 deadline for Track 1 and July 15, 2026 for Track 2. Confirm the project fits the still-open track before applying.
